DIRECTIONS TO OUR LOCATION
Located in southwest Schleicher County, where the rolling Texas Hill Country meets the romantic vistas of West Texas, the X Bar Ranch is a nature retreat that is truly one-of-a-kind. Steeped in tradition and rife with ranching heritage, you'll find rolling, open, uninterrupted hills at the X Bar, alongside sweeping sunsets, rambling trails and unparalleled access to nature.
The X Bar Ranch Nature Retreat lies approximately 20 miles west of Eldorado, Texas and only 8 miles north of Interstate 10. Its location makes it a perfect stopping place for those traveling to and from far West Texas, including Alpine, Big Bend National Park, Ft. Davis and Marfa. And - for those wanting to make a longer stay of it - this is the perfect weekend or family getaway for those seeking solitude and a natural environment while still enjoying the charm of the nearby small communities.
At just under three hours from San Antonio and around three and a half hours from Austin, the X Bar offers the best of both regions it sits astride - the heritage and ruggedness of West Texas and the comparatively lush rolling vegetation of the Texas Hill Country. From Eldorado to lodge: Take US 277 South toward Sonora, 3 miles south of town turn right (west) onto FM 2129- 17.8 miles later turn into Live Oak Lodge entrance on left side of road, the only entrance on FM 2129 with the American & Texas flags. Do NOT turn in at rock with X Bar Ranch on it, you have 5 more miles to go. (Approximately 20 min. from Eldorado)
From I-10 West to lodge: West of Sonora take exit 388. At first stop sign turn right, turn left at the second stop sign onto FM 1312 west and go 1.8 miles until you get to FM 2129. Turn right onto FM 2129 (east toward Eldorado) and go approximately 6.5 miles to the Live Oak Lodge entrance on the right side of the road. (Approximately 20 min. from Sonora)
From I-10 East to lodge: East of Ozona take exit 381 onto FM 1312 east and go until you get to FM 2129, approx. 5 miles. Turn onto FM 2129 (east toward Eldorado) and go approximately 6.5 miles to the Live Oak Lodge entrance on the right side of the road. (Approximately 25 min. from Ozona)
